The two-story control tower for L.L. Pelling’s new asphalt plant is wood-frame with split block veneer, a standing seam roof and exposed concrete flooring. The first floor is primarily office and storage space. It also has a lab for testing aggregate. The second floor is the “brain” of the plant. It houses all the monitors and control systems. It monitors moisture, heat and weight throughout the process.
